Rural Hartley Fiber

Hartley Fiber Update - November 2024

Most mainline fiber construction is completed. We are currently working on drops (from the fiber pedestal to the house) and anticipate finishing the project in the Spring of 2025.

Rural Hartley Fiber Update - Oct 23, 2023

As you know, we are building fiber Internet to rural Hartley residents. This year we are on the north and west sides of town. During the 2024 construction season, we will be south of town. (See map).

We started construction around the middle of October, which was a few weeks later than anticipated. Getting locates done by existing providers has really impacted the pace of our construction. You can read all about that topic here.

We mark where your fiber line to your house will go with white flags, so you can see where it will be prior to construction. If you have an underground dog fence, personal gas or electric lines or irrigation – please let us know, so we can avoid them.

Fiber construction is very weather dependent. We are hopeful to complete the north half of the project this fall, so we can start on the south half in the spring. However, we will just have to see how the weather and the locates situation impact our progress.

The best news is that soon you will have fiber Internet connected right to your home, so you can experience all its benefits.

Please contact us by phone or email with any questions.

Also, please share this with anyone who might still want to sign the permission to bury form – so we can bring fiber Internet to their home as well.

Hartley Fiber Update - July 6, 2023

Great news. The Hartley fiber project continues to march forward as planned. Thank you for submitting your permission to bury form, and there is still time for your neighbors to complete a form too. Please help them and us, and share this info with them.

TCA and Evertek have formed a partnership to do this project. Phase one of the project is underway now and we anticipate completing the construction before winter ends the 2023 construction season.

Phase two will be started and we expect to complete it during the 2024 construction season.

As a reminder, the construction process occurs in 3 phases:

  • Main line fiber

  • Fiber 'drops' to homes

  • And splicing/testing

Assuming Phase one stays on schedule, TCA/Evertek anticipate starting to install/connect customers to the fiber network in the late fall and throughout the winter '23/'24.

Getting materials, and most importantly, enough qualified construction contractors continues to be a hurdle for projects like ours.

Any wait will be worth it. Your reward will be worth it because you'll have fiber Internet, which less than 40% of customers in Iowa currently have. Why does fiber matter?

  • Ultra-fast bandwidth (speed)

  • Ultra-reliable

  • Unlimited! No limits, no data usage caps

  • Makes your home even more valuable, without raising your taxes

  • Connect all your devices to stream, game, shop, work, video chat. Use your Internet like you want, without limits!

Project Details & Map

Good news! As you may know, Evertek and The Community Agency (TCA) of Sanborn, are bringing fiber Internet, TV and Phone services to the rural customers of Hartley. We would love the opportunity to serve you when the project is complete, so please read below about next steps you can take today.

We applied for and received funding for part of this project from the State of Iowa Broadband Grant program.

The area highlighted in green is the fiber build area. The project will be divided into 2 Phases with the dividing line at Hwy 18 or 320th Street.

Phase 1 -  Anything on Hwy 18 (320th Street) and north will be Phase 1. We anticipate the project beginning in June/July time frame and hoping to complete Phase 1 before winter hits.

Phase 2 - Includes anything South of Hwy 18 (320th Street) will begin next year.
